Auspice I by Marjorie Dial

The Auspices series is made from local NC clay and ash collected from the cottage stove at Township10. These pieces were fired at a community firing in May 2022. Though abstract, they are functional objects. The definition of auspices is “a prophetic sign” and the more contemporary meaning “to be in a protected space.” These forms protect space, particularly clearing space for creativity and freedom.
